Get paid when they sign

How it works

1. In Settings, connect your Stripe account. It is free, takes about five minutes, and you can use an account you already have.
2. In a new envelope or template, turn on Get paid when they sign: enter the amount, what it is for, and who pays.
3. The signer reviews and signs, then pays by card on Stripe's secure page, in French or English.
4. You get an email, the money is in your Stripe account, and the envelope is completed. The certificate shows the amount, the time and the Stripe payment number.

What people use it for

• Landlords: the first month's rent with the lease.
• Contractors: the deposit on a signed quote.
• Schools, camps and clubs: the registration fee with the form, through a public signing link.
• Consultants and agencies: the first invoice with the service agreement.

Required or optional

By default the document is completed only once the payment is made, so you never chase money after the signature. You can also make the payment optional: the document completes at signing and the payer can still pay from the same link. If someone pays you another way, you can stop waiting for the online payment in one click.

Fees

Stripe charges its usual card fees on your account. We add a platform fee of 1% of the amount on paid plans, or 2% on the Free plan, taken automatically by Stripe. There is no monthly fee for the feature, and refunds are made from your own Stripe dashboard.

A note for Québec landlords

Under article 1904 of the Civil Code of Québec, a landlord can ask for the first month's rent in advance, but not for a security deposit or any other amount. Ask only for what the law allows; Stellaire Sign gives you the tool, not legal advice.
